Oregon whiskey includes American single malt, bourbon, rye and wheat whiskey. Westward, Clear Creek, New Deal, Oregon Spirit and Stein make examples in the state. Check the specific bottle: an Oregon brand address does not establish where its whiskey was distilled.
Examples of whiskey made in Oregon
- Westward, Portland: American single malt made at its Portland distillery. Start with its official distillery page. For tastings and tours, see our Westward Whiskey visitor guide.
- McCarthy's, Clear Creek: Oregon single malt in the Hood River Distillers portfolio. The producer offers three- and six-year expressions.
- New Deal, Portland: its Distiller's Reserve whiskeys are fermented and distilled in-house. The straight bourbon uses corn and wheat.
- Oregon Spirit, Bend: its four-grain bourbon is made and aged on site. Its range also includes rye, wheat and malt whiskey.
- Stein, Joseph: the distillery's whiskey range includes Oregon-made bourbon, rye and blended whiskey.
For the barley-based category, see our American single malt whiskey guide.
Made, finished or bottled in Oregon?
Distilled in Oregon identifies where the spirit was produced. Finished in Oregon may describe an extra maturation stage for whiskey distilled elsewhere. Bottled in Oregon identifies the bottling location. These claims are not interchangeable; read the label and producer's explanation together. For spelling conventions, see our whiskey or whisky guide.
For example, Pendleton Original is distilled in Canada and uses water from Oregon's Mount Hood before bottling. That bottle is different from whiskey distilled in Oregon. For other expressions, see our Pendleton Whisky origin guide.
